Surfboards are so efficient at sandpapering bellies!
Yesterday I pinched my son's Gromit softboard (thanks Sunpatch) and tried to catch some waves off Murrays Beach. They were great waves. Huge smooth and wavy.

You may be guessing by his stage that I am not really much of a surfer. I am really bad at surfing. I wish I could actually stand up. Maybe I should go pay Lee Winkler to show me how to do it.

After a while I gave up trying to surf on the board, chucked it on the beach and just body surfed instead. It occurred to me that, although I love body boarding, it reminds me of when I was a kid and the local doctor syringed my ears to clean out the excess wax, flies and chewing gum. That dull roaring in the ears as the force of that wave pulls you in. Its great. Really.

Love Winter

Winter is great.

I went to the renewables fair at Valla last week, afterwards we took the kids down to the beach for a picnic. We had the beach mostly to ourselves and poked around in the colourful little rockpools. Nicoles' little boy Jimmy (age 3) ran straight into the creek. It was him who inspired Evan and I to go for a swim.

It was one of those clear cold day's with warm sunshine and the water was perfect. I could see right through the oncoming waves, sometimes catching a glimpse of a small fish or two suspended in front of me.

Beautiful.
